He hears them blood hounds baying
far side of the valley so faint
not chasing a wicked man
not pursuing a saint

given chance to do it over
would do same again
not a single remembrance
brings anguish or pain

them hounds moving closer
crossing the valley floor
caught his scent, on his trail
best run for sure
